The 3am Text Confessions Meme
Please don’t cancel me

Everyone has their secrets. Some are bigger than others, but it may be any number of things that are weighing down on your conscience. One night, whether it induced by lack of sleep, alcohol consumption, or some supernatural force, you decide to come out with it once and for all. It’s time to confess.
Directions:
1. Post a TL with your character name and canon in the subject line. You can either leave your TL blank for others to come confess, or you can put a confession in your top level. Your character’s confession can be anything from “I killed someone” to “I’m in love with my best friend” to “I’ve never eaten chocolate and vanilla swirl ice cream”. Any and all confessions are welcome - in fact, feel free to put a few different ones in your TL if you want people to pick and choose!
2. Respond to other people’s TLs with either your character’s own confession, or with a response to their’s.
3. Be respectful, follow basic dwrp meme rules, etc.!
Open to all fandom characters, OCs, AUs, CRAUs, etc.. Tagging around is highly encouraged!

Richard C. Gansey III | The Raven Cycle | OTA
1 - lightest option
I’m not actually sure I’ve ever been to a Wal-Mart.
2 - slightly heavier option
I’m not always proud to be myself. I know I have plenty of flaws. I try so hard to keep myself and everyone else afloat, and it’s exhausting. Sometimes I feel like it’s too much to handle.
((ooc: not sure he’d send this to anyone in the gangsey, but it could be a misfire, or maybe he’s just really sleep deprived and anxious idk))
3 - heaviest option
Death terrifies me, but it’s not my own I’m worried about. Not really.
4 - text him

You know it’s not your job to save everyone, right? I thought rich boys like you had more important things to worry about... like Welsh kings.

[He’s struck with a few sensations all at once.
[1. Guilt. He wouldn’t want Blue to think for a moment that he finds any of his friends to be a burden.
[2. The impulse to save face. He could come up with some reason why what he said wasn’t what he said or how it didn’t sound like what it sounded like, but he doesn’t like to lie when he doesn’t have to, and he has a feeling she’d probably see through it.
[3. The name “Dick” feels very fitting right now.
[What else can he really say but...]
Fine morning, Jane. [It is technically the morning.] That message wasn’t intended for you. I apologize.

[Her fingers brushed the side of her phone tentatively. Wondering if the conversation was better left to end there.]
[But her eyes darted back along the previous lines and a part of her was pained at the thought of the Resident King of Henrietta left alone with very real and heavy thoughts.]
[Blue’s heart fluttered at the thought of how close to the real Gansey she felt just now. Even just in the words on her screen.]
I meant what I said, you know. You shouldn’t carry that kind of burden on your own.
no subject
[Back to the saving face impulse. It’s a very quick text back. Reading his own lines back to himself, he realizes how very much it sounds like a burden, and he kicks himself for that.
[Truthfully, he doesn’t really want to be having this conversation right now, but he can’t leave Blue thinking that he finds any one of his friends to be a burden. The idea makes him feel slightly nauseous.]
It’s been a long night, like you said. I shouldn’t have said any of that.
I don’t feel like I’m alone, of course. :) How could I? I just need some sleep.
[It’s not a lie, per se...but.]
I don’t want you to think I feel that way at all. That anyone is a burden. It’s a pressure I put on myself completely.
no subject
I don’t think that about you. I didn’t mean that.
[She types that to him quickly, trying to think on her feet so early in the morning. He wants this to end. She should let it go.]
Your problem isn’t other people, it’s that heart of yours.
[Blue ignored the hard thumping in her chest against her pillow as she rolled into a comfortable position to type. Gansey wasn’t the only one here who struggled being honest with themselves and others. ]
I wouldn’t say I know a lot of people, but You are one of the most thoughtful and emotional people I’ve ever met.
You made me feel welcome before you even knew who I was. And I gave you a hard time right away. I thought that was just you playing a part once, but I know better now. You are Genuinely a wonderful...loving person.
[Even writing love in this context sent an odd electricity through her fingertips as she sent it away.]
no subject
[No. He casts that line of thought out right away. Blue wouldn’t be, do, or say anything she didn’t want to. Gansey notices his own heart beating more solidly in his chest - what’s all that for?
[He begins to worry that too much time has passed between responses, but he’s at a slight loss for words. What she’s said, it’s really a very...]
That is a lovely compliment, Blue.
Genuinely. Thank you.
[And what a lame response that is, he thinks, but what else is he to say? Her words mean more than she realizes. It’s something Gansey doesn’t hear as often as he should.]
Honestly, I’m not quite sure what else I can say. I did a fine job of exposing myself tonight, didn’t I?
no subject
Being human isn’t a bad look on you. You should wear it more often.
[Her lips pulled into a smile, hoping he would read her teasing tone.]
Everything happens for a reason. Maybe Fate is trying to tell you that you can lean on me when you’re feeling a bit too heavy. I may be small, but I’m very sturdy.
no subject
You are certainly something. Very sturdy I’d say, yes.
[He considers leaving it at that. Maybe he should. It’s times like these that make Gansey want to withdraw into himself and put the mask back on, but as it is, that mask was already cast to the side the moment he sent that misdirected text. And he sent it in the first place because he was tired of hiding. At least tonight.]
Is that how you see me, Blue? Inhuman?

...But they do have amazingly tiny 50 cent pies that always sound like a good idea at 2AM.
no subject
But it seems like a very...large place to be selling “amazingly tiny” anything.
[He has seen a Wal-Mart at least. Those places are massive!]
no subject
If you'd like to visit one, let me know. I'd love to see your reaction in real time.
no subject
Well, I’m not a Pilgrim. I know what a Wal-Mart is, I’ve just never shopped there. I have a couple of friends who would probably think that was pretty ignorant.
I have been to a Costco though. They definitely don’t sell anything tiny.
no subject
[ her affectionate tone is obvious, although she thinks she can understand where his friends come from; she and Gansey are from the wealthier class. and Walmart crowds... are not usually described as wealthy. ]
And Costco definitely doesn't. It's awfully tempting to buy one of those huge snack packs but I know I'll always get sick of it halfway through because it's just so much to eat by myself.
no subject
[He wouldn’t trade them for the world.]
How heavily would you judge me if I told you that I’d managed to accomplish that feat once or twice?
I swear I was sleep-walking.
[He wasn’t, of course.]
no subject
(But it's really more a mix of horror and admiration. Like if you say you finished a whole Costco pack of Rice Krispy Treats... I'm not sure I'll believe you're human.)

Please use discretion with this, Ronan. I don’t want anyone to think I’m going around tattling on them.
We just had a disagreement.
no subject
Ronan used his elbows to prop himself up while still in bed. ]
discrete? never heard of it.
about?
no subject
[He won’t say another word until he feels that it won’t get back to Adam in the heat of someone else’s argument. Not that he’d expect that from Ronan, but listen. It’s been an anxious night for Richard C. Gansey. That much is probably clear.]
no subject
spill it.
no subject
I offered to pay for a car part that he was having trouble finding a decent version of. Temporarily, just until he could pay me back.
Apparently that makes me evil incarnate.
[He knows better than to offer Adam anything that can be misconstrued as charity, and yet he continues to do so. Hence his feeling like a total idiot. But Christ, is he not allowed to help his friends when they need it? He said Adam could pay him back.]

just give it a day.
