The Limbo Meme

You’re not sure how it happened, or maybe you are. Was it a hero’s death, or the desperate last moments of a coward? Maybe you died to protect someone, maybe you fell on your own sword, maybe you passed away peacefully in your bed one night, or maybe you were taken out by force. Whatever the reason, you are now neither here nor there, no pearly gates or brimstone in sight. This is what they call “limbo”, a liminal space made not to exist in, but to pass through on your way to a more finite destination. Even so, there’s no telling how long you might be stuck here, nor who you might encounter.
Directions:
-create a top level, either blank or with a prompt or preferences
-select a number, letter, or combination of the two from the lists below if you wish
-tag others and enjoy being dead
(OTA all canon characters and OCs)
How long have you been here?
1. Newly dead; You haven’t been here long. Maybe you don’t remember how you got here, or maybe you do. You might be scared, confused, disheartened, or even relieved. You’re not the only one drifting through this strange place, so maybe you should ask a familiar - or unfamiliar - face what’s going on.
2. Getting your footing; You’re not exactly a seasoned death veteran, but you’ve been here a while, and whether you like it or not, you’re almost starting to get used to this place - but when will it be time to move on? And who’s that new person who just arrived? That person in the corner has been here as long as you have, if not longer. Maybe you should talk to them.
3. A seasoned spirit; You’ve been here for years, or decades, or centuries. Perhaps you’ve learned how to drift in and out with how long you’ve been dwelling in this strange place. You could give a newbie some advice, or maybe ease the frustration of someone who has been here not quite long enough to accept what their existence has become - that they’ll become you. Then again, maybe you’re just angry you’re still stuck here at all.
What are you doing?
A. Asking questions; How did you get here? How did you die? Will you ever see your family or friends again? Is that one of them? When will you move on to the next stage? Who’s that weird guy standing in the corner over there? You’ve got questions and you want answers.
B. Facing your killer; You know how you got here, you know who’s responsible, but do you know exactly what you’d have to say to them if you saw them? Well, you better figure it out - they’re standing right in front of you.
C. Facing your victim; Well, this is awkward. At some point in the past, you made a decision, and now that decision has quite literally come back to haunt you. The person for whom’s death you are responsible is standing right in front of you, and they are probably going to want some answers
D. A familiar face; Maybe you’re new here, or maybe you’ve been here for years; either way, you’ve just seen a familiar face, whether it be a long lost loved one, or someone you never expected to follow you so soon in death. What will you say to them?
E. Wildcard; Go crazy! Any number of things can happen when your soul is trapped between dimensions. Strike up a conversation with a stranger, explore any strange new powers you might discover as a ghost, haunt one of the living, etc. The possibilities are endless!

slides in with some cross-canon, hopefully that's ok!!
Except. Something seems to have gone wrong. In their latest delve into the woods, the leyline had warped beneath their feet and they've wound up... here. A formless limbo; it reminds Darlington unnervingly of the river, the hazy boundary between the living world and that of the dead. He's only been here once before, calling in some favours from the necromantic society at Yale to talk to a ghost, but so it looks distressingly familiar.
Are they dead?? ]
Well. On the scale of 1-10 in rituals that have ever gone wrong in my life— this ranks rather highly.
Yes of course! o/

SO i'm thinking maybe they're eventually led to noah, then get yanked confused back out of limbo?
this sounds good to me! Do they know Noah’s secret by now?
hmmm maybe they don't, so it's a first ~hint~ towards the secret

Iwaizumi Hajime | Haikyuu!! (OTA - Anime Only)
Ren Amamiya (Joker) | Persona 5 (Vanilla) (OTA)
2D but also like, you know, them
[The voice comes from behind him, echoing slightly in the desolate wasteland that's made up the majority of Akechi's afterlife. Howling winds, desolate stretches of rocky emptiness -- some parts are freezing cold, open to an eternal night air; some parts are blazing hot under the watchful eye of an unforgivingly close sun. Some parts, like right here, are a little oasis one could mistake for comfort, as if on the dawn line of an unrotating planet.
Of course, some of the wandering spirits passing through have tried to tell him that this purgatory, this limbo, could be changed through his own willpower. What a joke. What a colossal fucking insult to think that this place could be shaped by his own will as easily as twisting a cognition in the Metaverse. Nothing has ever been shaped by his own will, no matter how hard he tried to grasp it with his own hands.
And now Ren Amamiya has the gall to interrupt his afterlife, now, when he'd finally started getting used to these different forms of hell. At least he can take some small pleasure in the act of leaping from one of the rocky cliffs to land in the dust behind the other boy. At least he still has that.]
Don't tell me you let someone kill you, Joker.

[She'd been having a fun time, and now she was here.]
[She wasn't sure how long it had been. It felt like a long time, but like a long time that had somehow rushed by in an instant. Walking through this blank landscape, looking for anything resembling an exit or a familiar face.]
[However long it had been, she had found neither.]
[But now, there was something- someone- new. In both life and death.]
Um-

Don’t look so depressed. It sucks, but it doesn’t suck that badly.
[”Get over yourself,” is essentially what he’s saying, and all to some poor stranger who in all reality might not even be depressed. Is he projecting? Oh, definitely. But it’s much easier to judge others than it is himself.]
Noah Czerny | The Raven Cycle (OTA)
1C well this is awkward
[And he is dead. That’s something. It hadn’t been in the way he’d expected, though he’s not really sure what that would have been in the first place. His liver probably should have taken him out by his fifth year of teaching, but instead it was...magical forest beasts and some piece of shit trailer trash with his dad’s gun?
[Whelk idly decides that he doesn’t really like that very much either. And most of all, what he doesn’t really like very much at all, is that he really doesn’t feel much different, and that that realization is a little more than a little disappointing, and that that realization makes it even worse.
[A meaningless life, and now? Nothing. Not even hell. But not the sort of nothing that you don’t have to feel, so maybe that’s the very nature of it anyway.
[And then of course, there’s Czerny standing in front of him. Whelk blinks dumbly in observing his smashed-in cheek as if he weren’t the one to smash it in. When had he gotten here— Well, seven years ago, Whelk knows very well, but when had he come to stand in front of him like that, and why?
[This is awkward.
[He turns away, attempts to walk forward and far off where the other can’t confront him, but finds no ability to do so. There’s nothing in front of him, and yet an obstacle still. He freezes with his back turned on his best friend, murdered by his own hands.
[Would it be too much to hope that they can skip the unpleasantries and go straight into some other topic of conversation? Suddenly, Whelk really wishes that he could bump shoulders with Czerny just as if they were seventeen again.
[One of them still is. Whelk still doesn’t turn to face him when he first speaks.]
Well. I bet you’re plenty happy to see me, huh? Just say what you want to and let me go.

Turing | 2064: Read Only Memories
2D, CRAU if you don’t mind <333
[His voice is a little breathless when he says it. Not Turing...Not here. While Iwaizumi still isn’t quite sure how he ended up here himself, he knows by this point, at least, that he died. Up until this moment, memories of a place called “The Void” seemed far off and hazy, almost unreal, most likely something the brain created while whatever actually ended his life took the last out of him.
[When he sees Turing, he realizes that that’s not true, and that rocks him.
[Not Turing, not here...He approaches the ROM with a knot in his gut, face all but pathetic with what can only be described as grief.]
Turing...

Ryuji Sakamoto | Persona 5 (R) | OTA
everything's been such a blur since he came to. how did he get here anyway? and where's Joker? or...any of his friends for that matter? they were here just a moment ago, weren't they? how long was he out? this...doesn't look like any palace he's been to either, nor does it look like Mementos. and he's definitely not back in Shibuya like he should be.
[ it's been an indiscriminate amount of time now and he's growing increasingly frustrated with the situation as no one's come to find him. he shouts into the void. ]
This shit ain't funny, guys...you can come out now! [ ... ] I mean it dammit! Where the hell're y'all hidin'?!
[ Ryuji's not entirely sure what he's feeling right now. anger? confusion? fear? sadness? maybe it's All of the Above as his shouts continue to go unanswered. apologies in advance though if he gets a little snippy. dying kinda blows, ya know. especially when you think your friends are playing a very elaborate trick on you ]

Fuck.
When's the last time Akechi even spoke to another person? He can only be grateful that Takamaki's appearance wasn't in the middle of one of his own monologues he'd taken to giving aloud, just for the sake of hearing something. His particular limbo takes the form of how an old sci-fi movie might pretend to be in a vacuum; there's no sound save for that of his own voice, falling oddly flat instead of carrying how one might expect.
There's a part of him that wonders if she's just a mirage. An illusion, conjured up in the last vestiges of a mind being lost. But if he were being honest, Ann Takamaki isn't the first person his brain would conjure up for him.]
So.
