The Stuck in an Elevator Meme

Looks like we'll be here a while.

This one's pretty self-explanatory! Who knows why you came to this building, but it looks like the elevator is on the fritz, and whoever you last stepped into it with will be your companion for the next who-knows-how-long. Hopefully they're not a murderer. Have fun!

[Well, of course Akaza could open the door. He just wanted to see Kyojuro try... He readies himself, squaring his knees in the appropriate position, deciding he will simply punch a hole in the door. Surely there are mechanics to fix it somewhere in this building.

His fist collides with metal, and yet the door does not give way. Instead, the elevator vibrates with the aftershocks of the impact.]

Well, Kyojuro, it seems that your idea didn't work. [He raises an eyebrow at the demon slayer, smile tugging at his mouth.] Shall we try mine?

[He's a Hashira, not an object, Akaza. Rengoku feels simultaneously satisfied and concerned that Akaza's punch did not open the door. Hm.]

It's as I said. I will not draw my sword. It would not be wise to fight here.

[He points.] That red button says "help".

[Listen, he doesn't want to be stuck in this elevator with Akaza anymore than Akaza wants to--

[Hm.]

Would you look at that. Would you like to press the help button or shall I? [He punches the door one more time.]

[The punch does nothing - this is a very strong elevator, apparently.

[He leans in front of Akaza and presses the red "HELP" button. It does nothing.]

Ah. It's not working either.

[Wonderful...He straightens again.]

Then we have just to wait.

[He pauses, then reels back to punch the door himself. Like Akaza's punches, it only rattles the elevator.] Hm.

The sword idea is a good one. [But he'll drop it. So sad that he won't get to see that swordsmanship again.

He leans forward, arm almost brushing against Kyojuro's but juuust missing it, and his hand sweeps along every button on the elevator. Couldn't hurt.

Alas. The buttons don't even light up.]

I'm no good with modern technology. [Akaza pushes away, seats himself in the center of the small space.] I don't suppose you have any cards, eh, Kyojuro?

[It takes great willpower not to frown heavily as Akaza seats himself in the middle of the elevator. Quite intent on being Seen at all times, isn't he? Except for when the sunlight comes out and he's running into the forest like a--

[Ahem.]

I do not. And I am not interest in playing cards with you.

We will wait without entertainment until the elevator opens.

[Maybe practice some breathing. Fuck this guy tbh.]

If you insist. [He examines his nails, picking dirt-- blood?-- from underneath them. The silence drags for about 40 seconds.]

What have you been up to? Since... you know.

[Glancing sideways at Akaza:]

I've been dead.

[Oh. True.]

I hear death can be quite like an adventure.

[Not that Akaza would know. He was healthy as a horse, as they say.]

[He lifts his chin a bit, and the trademark steadfast smile returns.]

Our conversations before were similar in nature, weren't they, demon?

As a human, it was the inevitability of death that gave my life great value - in that, the actions I took in life that gave value to my death.

I still believe you should have become a demon. [Akaza rests his elbows on his knees, looking at Kyojuro with shining eyes.] You might have even made it amoung the ranks of the twelve kizuki.
