The (Forced) Speed Dating Meme

Maybe You Want to Be Here, Maybe You Don't
But You're Here!

It's as the tagline says. Maybe you want to be here - have a few laughs, get to know some new people, make new friends, maybe take someone home - or, maybe you don't. Either way, you're here, complete with a name tag, a list of preferences, and a mysterious magical force that's keeping you from leaving. Whether compelled to sit at your table and wait for your next match, or to visit tables yourself, it's time to partake in a thrilling game of speed dating. And no, you don't have a choice, so you might as well make the most of it.

How to Play:
- Make a top level with your character name and canon in the subject line. Include in your top level what's written on your character's tag. You may use this format if you wish:

Feel free to assume that your character filled it out themselves, or that it was magically filled out for them when they arrived and they aren't able to remove it. Whatever suits your character best!

- Assume your character is either seated at a table awaiting matches, freely exploring the room, or being propelled by some otherworldly force to mingle. That is to say, tag around to other top levels and speed date away!

- It may be a good idea to put in your top-level some preferences for whether you are looking for shippy threads, friendship threads, funny threads, etc.. whatever you'd like!

- Tag around, have fun, be respectful, follow basic dwrp rules, etc.!

Anyone and everyone is welcome, including fandom characters, fandom OCs, canon OCs, AUs, CRAUs, etc.! Feel free to spread the word and thanks for playing!

[It's at this point that something flashes behind Whelk's eyes, shifting his expression ever-so-subtly from pompous and contrary to intrigued with just a hint of impassioned.]

Now we're getting somewhere. [There's caution in his tone. He's not sure whether or not he should believe it - it sounds insane - but he wants to, because this is the shit he lives for.] Where you from? Is it native to that area?

[Pause. A better question arises.]

How did you manage? To look away, I mean.

[This boy's a little weird.]

I'm from Japan, I guess that's the only place I've heard of any kunekune sightings, hoax or otherwise. Some versions of the story say that if you don't approach it, it'll leave you alone, but it turns out that's bullshit.

I probably would've died, if I had been alone. I had a friend with me, and she managed to snap me out of it long enough to kill it.

[A little.

[His eyes narrow, the immersion dangerously close to being broken.]

She killed it? [Not a spirit then? Something like a demon, maybe? Or bullshit. It could be bullshit - a liar with heterochromia.] How?

That part is... still kind of confusing. I barely understand how any of this stuff works. It wasn't a physical thing, not really, but when my eye was affected, it let me perceive its true form. Once I could perceive it, it became a physical entity, that could be killed. Rock salt is effective against a lot of monsters, but so is shooting them, with guns.

Like I said, I don't know how it works. All I know is that once I saw its true form, I understood that it could be killed, and that made it killable.

[The Otherside is a weird place. If Sorawo knew how it worked, she'd write a book about it or something. Nobody understands that crap.]

[A pause.]

You're lying.

[He's testing.]

[She rolls her eyes. The accusation doesn't take her by surprise, but it's still kind of annoying.]

Well, you don't have to believe me if you don't want to. Sorry that my life doesn't live up to your standards.

[He seems satisfied with that reaction, which is also probably annoying. More annoying still, he's not actually done talking about this yet.]

Say you are telling the truth. Would you say this was some sort of demon you were dealing with? "Monster" seems a rather childish term. Did you find it hiding under your bed?
